What does Press Hive mean for you as a reader?
Press Hive exists to give you trustworthy, independent UK news that you can rely on without confusion or spin. Every article you read here is written by a named journalist, checked by an editor, and fact-checked before it reaches you. We want you to feel confident that what you are reading is accurate, fair, and clearly labelled if it is sponsored or opinion-based. From politics to business, technology to public affairs, our coverage is built for readers who value substance over noise. You will always know who wrote it, who edited it, and how to challenge or correct it.
Before we publish anything, a human editor reviews every piece. Our fact-checking lead, Oliver Reeves, ensures claims are verified. If something changes or an error slips through, we correct it promptly and transparently via our corrections policy. We do not use anonymous sources as a crutch, and we never publish AI-generated quotes or bylines. For you, this means a newsroom that prioritises accountability over speed, and clarity over sensationalism.
Why did Sliema Media Limited found Press Hive?
Sliema Media Limited, a Malta-based digital media company registered with the Malta Business Registry (C 84217), launched Press Hive to fill a gap in the UK news landscape: authoritative, independent coverage without partisan backing or hidden agendas. Our registered office is at Level 3, Tower Business Centre, Tower Street, Swatar, Birkirkara BKR 4013, Malta. The founding team saw that too much digital news was either paywalled, rushed, or driven by click metrics. They wanted a publication that could sustain itself through transparent funding — advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content and newsletter sponsorships — while never letting those relationships dictate editorial conclusions. Every sponsored piece is clearly labelled, and our sponsored content policy is public.
The company structure is simple: Sliema Media Limited owns and operates Press Hive. Our editor-in-chief and responsible publisher, Jonathan Ellery, holds final authority over editorial standards, publication decisions and corrections. He can be reached at jonathan.ellery@presshive.uk or +44 20 4587 9485. Our full ownership and funding details are published at /ownership-funding/ so you can see exactly who pays for what and how we remain independent.
What is our editorial philosophy?
We believe news should be accurate, transparent and useful — not alarming or partisan. Every article is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by an editor, and fact-checked before publication. Our editorial team covers politics, business, technology and public affairs with a steady, plain-English tone. We do not take sides; we follow evidence. When we make a mistake, we own it, correct it, and log it in our corrections policy. Sponsored content is clearly labelled, and commercial partnerships never influence reporting. Our editorial policy and fact-checking policy are published for anyone to read.
We also use digital tools to support research, editing, formatting and metadata. But every piece of published content is reviewed by a human editor. Our AI and automation policy makes that commitment explicit. We never fabricate quotes, sources or bylines. If you see a byline, a real person wrote it, and you can contact them via the email addresses listed on our team page.
How is our newsroom structured?
Our newsroom is built around a clear desk structure, each led by an experienced editor. Rebecca Haines is our managing editor (rebecca.haines@presshive.uk). Thomas Hayes oversees politics and public affairs (thomas.hayes@presshive.uk). Amelia Blackwell covers business and economy (amelia.blackwell@presshive.uk). Sophie Marlowe edits culture and features (sophie.marlowe@presshive.uk). Oliver Reeves leads standards and fact-checking (oliver.reeves@presshive.uk). Our editor-in-chief, Jonathan Ellery, oversees everything. You can meet the full team at /our-team/.
Each desk operates with the same rigour: named writer, editorial review, fact-check. Functional emails are also available: editorial@presshive.uk for story ideas, tips@presshive.uk for confidential submissions, and corrections@presshive.uk or complaints@presshive.uk for issues. Our complaints procedure explains how we handle concerns step by step. Legal matters can go to legal@presshive.uk, and privacy questions to privacy@presshive.uk.
How this works in practice
When you read an article on Press Hive, here is what happens behind the scenes. A named journalist researches and writes the piece. It goes to the relevant desk editor for structural and substantive review. Then Oliver Reeves or a member of the fact-checking team verifies key claims. Once approved, the article is formatted and published with clear metadata. If it is sponsored, it is labelled as such. If it contains affiliate links, we disclose that. You can see our full advertising and affiliate disclosure for details. Every day, this process repeats for politics, business, technology and public affairs stories.
We also run a daily newsletter — you can sign up at /about-us/newsletter/. It summarises our top stories and analysis, delivered straight to your inbox. If you have a tip or a story to share, you can reach us securely at /about-us/tip-us/. Your sources are protected, and we treat confidential submissions seriously. We also maintain a sources policy that explains how we handle anonymous tips and whistleblowers.
What can you expect from our journalism?
You can expect accuracy, transparency and accountability in every story we publish. If we get something wrong, we correct it publicly and promptly. If you have a complaint, we have a clear complaints procedure to address it. Our copyright takedown policy and safeguarding minors policy are also published for your reference. We are committed to accessibility, detailed in our accessibility statement. And our terms of use and privacy policy govern how we handle your data and your reading experience.
Our funding model is transparent: display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content and newsletter sponsorships. None of these determine our editorial conclusions. You can verify that at /ownership-funding/. We also have a cookie policy that explains how we use data for site functionality and analytics. For any other questions, contact info@presshive.uk. Our UK editorial line is +44 20 4587 9485, and our Malta office is +356 2779 4100.
