Every piece of content on Press Hive is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by an editor and fact-checked before publication. Despite our rigorous process, errors can occasionally slip through. When they do, we put readers first. Our commitment is to correct the record openly, without delay, and to explain what went wrong. This policy applies to all content – news articles, features, opinion pieces and sponsored material – because accuracy matters everywhere.
How do we handle corrections?
When we receive a correction request, it goes directly to our editorial team. Jonathan Ellery, Editor-in-Chief and Responsible Publisher, oversees every correction decision. We verify the claim against original sources, consult the named writer and editor, and then decide on the appropriate remedy. Corrections are appended to the article with a clear note.
We categorise corrections into three levels. Minor errors – such as a misspelled name or wrong date – are fixed in the text and marked with a footnote saying “Correction: [date] [details]”. Significant factual mistakes that change the meaning of a story are corrected prominently at the top of the article, and we may publish a separate correction article if the error was widespread. In rare cases of serious misconduct or fundamental inaccuracy, we retract an article entirely and replace it with a notice explaining why. All corrections are recorded in our internal log and reviewed monthly by Oliver Reeves, our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead.
How this works in practice
Here is a step-by-step example of what happens when you report an error. You send an email to corrections@presshive.uk. Our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead Oliver Reeves logs the issue within one business day. If it is a factual error, we correct the text and add a footnote. If the error is substantial, we publish a correction article. The entire process is transparent and recorded.
Let’s say you read a story about a government policy and notice the voting figures are wrong. You email us with the correct source. Oliver Reeves assigns the request to the Politics & Public Affairs Editor Thomas Hayes, who re‑checks Hansard. If the error is confirmed, we update the article, add a correction note and email you back. If we disagree with your claim, we explain why with evidence. How do we prevent errors in the first place?
Accuracy starts before publication. Every article is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by an editor and fact-checked by Oliver Reeves’ team. We use digital tools only to assist with research, formatting and metadata – never to fabricate quotes, sources or bylines. Our writers and editors receive regular training on verification techniques. We maintain a style guide and a source‑checking checklist. Sponsored content is clearly labelled and subject to the same fact‑checking standards – commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions.
